Tom Coghlan, CMA
Tom Coghlan has worked at the intersection of finance, technology, and decision making for over 2 decades. He founded Financial Education Group in 2003 to provide high value training and education opportunities for individuals and companies. Since then, Financial Education Group has helped over 50 individuals pass the CMA examination, and has provided leading businesses with custom training.
During his career Tom has held increasingly responsible operating and financial management roles in service, manufacturing, private, public, domestic and international environments. He has extensive experience in business intelligence, organization restructuring, financial and strategic planning, and operation improvements, through a total team approach.
Tom is currently the Vice President of Client Services for FirstQuarter, Inc., where he helps clients develop performance management systems to maximize the full potential of their technology investments.
Prior to joining First Quarter, Tom assisted DuPont Inc. with their divestment of INVISTA, a $4 billion textile and fiber businesses, and was a Manager for CIBER Inc., $1 billion, NYSE traded consulting firm, where he worked with a broad range of clients including The Vanguard Group, Delaware Investments, ARAMARK, Fiserv, Lincoln Financial, and Reuters.
Prior to starting his consulting career, Tom was the Director of Finance and Information Technology for a $250 million business group of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), and the Controller for Leeds and Northrup's operations in the United States.
For over 5 years, Tom has been an adjunct professor at the Villanova University School of Business, teaching graduate and undergraduate accounting courses. He has worked with Eastern University’s School of Leadership Development to develop and deliver accounting and finance courses in Thailand and China. Tom is a frequent speaker at Continuing Professional Education seminars and conferences, and his article “Driving Down Auto Insurance Costs” was published in the January 2004 issue of Strategic Finance magazine.
He earned a BS degree in Business Administration from Drexel University, and MBA from LaSalle University. Tom is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and has passed the CPA examination.
