Dr. Andrew Felo, Ph.D, CMA, CFM

Andy is a Professor of Accounting at the Great Valley campus of Penn State University. He teaches a variety of Accounting and Finance courses in Penn State’s MBA programs. His research interests include Disclosure Credibility, Corporate Governance, Audit Committees, Ethics, and Professional Skepticism.

He has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University, and a M.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University. He earned a Doctorate in Management from Binghamton University, 1999, where his dissertation title was “An Investigation of the Relationship Between Board Oversight of an Ethics Program and Firm Value.”

Andy is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM), and has passed the CPA examination. He had the highest score in the United States on the CMA exam in 2001, earning Robert Beyer Gold Medal Award.

Andy has been affiliated with Financial Education Group since 2003 and has facilitated a variety of review courses and in-house seminars.

His research has been widely published, and includes:

• “Corporate Audit Committees’ New Accountability.” published in the May 2002 issue of Strategic Finance.

• “Ethics Programs, Board Involvement, and Potential Conflicts Of Interest In Corporate Governance.” published in 2001 in Volume 32 of Journal of Business Ethics.

• “Ethics Programs, Board Oversight, and Perceived Disclosure Credibility: Was The Treadway Commission Correct About Ethics and Financial Reporting?” published in 2000 in Volume 7 of Research on Accounting Ethics.

• Before entering the academic world, Andy’s business experience included working in operations for IBM, and as an ethics consultant for KPMG Peat Marwick.
